Microorganisms

Microorganisms are microscopic living organisms.

Microorganisms are very small, they are the smallest of the small, and the simplest of the simplest. They are separated into four groups.

-Fungi
-Protist
-Bacteria (EUBACTERIA AND ARCHAEBACTERIA)
-Virus

 PROTIST
Kingdom Protist live in water, or very moist environments. They are Eukaryotes (have a nucleus), their basic cell nature separates them from plants, fungi, and animals. There are three types of protists; plant-like protists such as algae (seaweed) are autotrophs that create their food from the sun. Fungi-like protists such as slime molds reproduce using spores, fungi-like protists such as amoebas, and protozoa move around using, pneumonitis.

BACTERIA (ARCHAEBACTERIA)

Bacteria are microscopic organisms that are found everywhere around us. We can't see them without a microscope because they are so small, but they are in the air, on our skin, in the ground, and all throughout nature. Bacteria are single-celled microorganisms, their cell structure is prokaryote which means they do not have a nucleus. Bacteria comes in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and species.

ARCHAEBACTERIA

Archaebacteria were not discovered until 1983. They are only found in the most extreme environments in the world. Such as thermal vents at the bottom of the ocean, and in sulfer pools in Yellowstone National Park. Archaebacteria are prokaryotes which contain no nucleus.

FUNGI
Kingdom Fungi is made up of mushrooms, molds, yeast, and mildew. Fungi are found all over Earth including on land, in the water, in the air, and even in plants and animals. There are estimated 1.5 million species of fungi. They vary widely in size from microscopically small to the largest organism on Earth at several square miles wide.
